Haverfordwest County AFC have finalised their initial summer transfer business with six confirmed player movements. The club has brought in three new faces while seeing three players depart, according to the official Cymru Leagues transfer tracker.

The summer window for Cymru Leagues clubs opened on 15 June and will close at 11pm on 31 August. After that deadline, clubs can still sign free agents but cannot make further additions until the new year. Haverfordwest's activity places them in the middle of the pack as teams across the league system reshape their squads.

The Bluebirds have strengthened with the signings of defender Clayton Green from Penybont and young forward Ben Phillips from Swansea City. The third addition is midfielder Jack Walker, who joins from Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. These signings aim to bolster a squad that finished eighth in the Cymru Premier last season.

Green, a 26-year-old defender, brings experience from a rival Cymru Premier club and is expected to compete for a starting role immediately. Phillips, a 19-year-old attacker, represents a development signing with potential for the future. Walker adds depth to the midfield options available to manager Tony Pennock.

Departing the Bridge Meadow Stadium are forward Elliot Scotcher, who has moved to Ammanford, and midfielder Lewis Rees, who has joined Cardiff Met. The third departure is young defender Luc Owen, who has also signed for Ammanford. These moves free up squad space and wage budget following the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Scotcher made 24 league appearances last term, contributing three goals. His move to a Cymru South club represents a step down a division. Rees, 22, featured 18 times in midfield, while Owen's departure sees a younger player seek more regular first-team football elsewhere.

This summer's business is more measured than the club's activity a year ago. In the 2025 summer window, Haverfordwest completed eight permanent transfers, focusing heavily on rebuilding a defence that had conceded 58 goals the previous season. The current window's three arrivals suggest a more targeted approach to filling specific gaps rather than a major overhaul.

The club's financial position, following a season of mid-table stability, likely allows for this more conservative strategy. The focus appears to be on integrating the new signings with the core group that secured a top-half finish last year.

With these transfers processed, Haverfordwest County's squad now has a blend of experience and youth. The defence, which was a priority last summer, remains largely intact, with Green providing additional competition. The midfield and attacking lines have seen one departure each, balanced by the arrivals of Walker and Phillips.

The team's pre-season preparations will be key for bedding in the new players. The competitive fixtures begin in early August, with the full schedule available on our fixtures page. The first test of the new-look side will come in the opening Cymru Premier match of the 2026-27 season.
