Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Clayton Green, a highly experienced midfielder who joins the club ahead of the 2026-27 season. Green arrives at the Ogi Bridge Meadow after signing a two-year contract, having spent the last two years with Penybont in the JD Cymru Premier. The 32-year-old has developed into one of the strongest all-round midfield players in the league, and was part of the last three Cymru C squads for the matches against England in 2022, 2023 and 2024, with his most recent international experience seeing him captain his country to a 1-0 victory at Stebonheath Park in Llanelli. Green has also played for Barry Town United and Pontypridd United – both of whom he captained – with his spell at the former including two appearances in the 2019-20 UEFA Europa League qualifiers. Clayton has made in excess of 200 appearances in the Welsh top-flight, and was part of the Penybont side which competed with FK Kauno Žalgiris of Lithuania in last summer’s UEFA Conference League qualifiers. Commenting on Clayton’s signing, manager Tony Pennock said: “Clayton is a player I’ve admired since coming back into the Cymru Premier. He’s always performed well against our sides whilst at Pontypridd and Penybont. “He adds undoubted experience to our squad and links back up with several ex-teammates of his. “I’m looking forward to working with Clayton and seeing his undoubted qualities add to our midfield options.” Speaking after signing for the club, Clayton said: “I’m really excited to take on a new challenge, especially at such an exciting time for the club as it transitions into hybrid and full-time football. “Combined with the league’s new format, it promises to be a fantastic and intriguing season, and I’m looking forward to being part of the journey.” If you or your business would be interested in sponsoring Clayton for the 2026-27 season, please contact Partnerships Manager Alaric Jones by emailing a.jones@hcafc1899.football
