Haverfordwest County AFC secured a vital 3-1 away win over Barry Town on Saturday, coming from behind to claim three Cymru Premier points. The result lifts County to 13th place in the table with 10 points from 13 matches, ending a difficult run of form. Their record now stands at three wins and a draw from those 13 games.

Abbruzzese opened the scoring for the visitors four minutes before half-time. The game remained tight until a dramatic final ten minutes at Jenner Park. Shephard doubled the lead on 80 minutes, only for Barry Town's Daley to pull one back three minutes later. Ahmun restored the two-goal cushion just 60 seconds after that, sealing a 3-1 victory.

How the match unfolded

The first half was a scrappy affair, with five yellow cards shown before the break. Wilson and McCarthy were booked for Haverfordwest, while Barry Town saw three players cautioned. The pattern continued after half-time, with Barry's Cuddihy receiving a second yellow card and a subsequent red in the 80th minute, leaving his side with ten men for the finale.

The numerical advantage following Cuddihy's dismissal helped County press home their advantage late on, with Shephard and Ahmun finding the net in quick succession.

What the result means

This win gives Haverfordwest County back-to-back league victories for the first time this season, following their 4-0 triumph over Cardiff Corinthians. Their recent form now reads two wins and three losses from the last five games, a sequence that includes defeats to Caernarfon Town, Flint Town United and Cardiff MET. The side has scored eight goals this campaign but conceded 19, leaving them with a goal difference of minus 11. They remain 30 points behind league leaders The New Saints.

The focus now shifts to the next fixture, a home match against Cardiff MET on Friday, 6 November. Cardiff MET currently sit 8th in the standings. County will look to continue their improved momentum and climb further away from the lower reaches of the table.
