Haverfordwest County AFC are delighted to announce that Ashley Watkins has signed his first professional contract with the club. The midfielder has come right through the club's academy system and earned numerous opportunities in the first team throughout the 2025-26 season. Ashley Watkins took on the role of captain of the under-19s Development side last term, which meant he had the honour of skippering the team as they competed in the UEFA Youth League for the very first time in the club's history, taking on FK Budućnost Podgorica of Montenegro over two legs. The 19-year-old is the latest to progress from the academy into the first team, underlining the opportunity that exists for talented young footballers from Pembrokeshire to compete at the highest level in Wales. Manager Tony Pennock said Ash is another talented local player who has been in the Academy for some years now. He has improved every year I've been at the club and has made some very important appearances for the first team this year. Ashley Watkins added he's really happy to have signed his first contract, it's what he's been aiming for over the years he's been in the academy. The opportunities and experiences he's had over the last two years have been amazing, and now he's excited to try and create even more. Ashley Watkins will now look forward to challenging himself further in senior football as Haverfordwest County AFC gears up for what promises to be an exciting 2026-27 campaign.
